Hey there,I love creating original experiences people enjoy - especially if they can enjoy it together or be creative with it. I'm currently working as an independent developer with my company Roofkat.
The main area of game development I am interested in is game design. I do however have decent knowledge of, and a lot of curiosity for, both the technical and the art side of game development. On top of that, I'm always eager to learn new things! Concept- and level design are the aspects of design I love doing most, as well as working as technical designer in Unreal Engine 4 or Unity. Making things work is neat. I also love stuffing games with secrets. I'm currently working on an unannounced project of Roofkat. You can find most of the projects I've worked on in my portfolio page and on my CV. Feel free to reach out to me using the information at the bottom of the page! |
A bit more about me
I really enjoy creative activities. Drawing is something I love to do, and have done since quite a young age. Writing stories is something I really like doing, creating worlds and filling them with interesting characters and events. Filming and editing videos is something I tried and which was quite fun, making sketches and vlogs - trying to make things that might entertain people. I also made a number of small board games and played around with a couple of simple level editors prior to making video games.
And then I started actually making games.
Making games for me began with making worlds. Essentially stories that would be the setting for a game, with a lot of concept drawings and small puzzle ideas, but without well-thought out gameplay. That changed completely when starting my education on game design at the NHTV. I became more and more interested in how mechanics and levels could function to let the player explore game rules, find new possibilities, and simply have fun. This became easier to play with when I got used to C# in Unity and Blueprints in Unreal. Gameplay interactions are these amazing ways players can do something you thought of, and then turn around and use it in their own unique way. Designing a level, trying to figure out where players would want to go, what they'd want to interact with and where they'd be looking is extremely satisfying to get right.
I still really enjoy drawing, writing and occasionally making videos - but making games is one of the most fun things I've ever done.
